As the kids count down to school holidays, a road trip to the snow, coast or local getaway could well be on the cards. As you pack your bags and prepare for the break, take this opportunity to think about family safety on the road.
Driver Preparation
Exercise, eat well and get a good night’s sleep before you hit the road. Try to drive within your normal waking hours, avoiding super-early starts - which can increase fatigue - and driving at night. Take a break every two hours throughout the drive and remember that powernaps can save lives!
Child Preparation
Ensure that your child restraints are appropriate and installed correctly. This includes making sure your children are wearing their seatbelts properly for the entire trip. Also keep hand sanitiser on standby for unexpected pit stops and messy backseat picnics.
Follow the road rules, slow down in wet weather conditions and be aware of others on the road. Reach your destination safely and then kick back and relax these school holidays.
Hot Tip: Does your child get carsick?
Stock your glove box with Vomit Waste Bags. They’re a more hygienic and far less messy alternative to a towel, plastic bag or lap!
